Implementing food, energy and water production systems on urban rooftops (roof mosaics) can potentially help cities become more self-sufficient but depends on the city&#8217;s <a class=\"topic-link\" title=\"Learn more about urban morphology from ScienceDirect's AI-generated Topic Pages\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/topics\/earth-and-planetary-sciences\/urban-morphology\">urban morphology<\/a>. We studied the supply potential and impacts of four roof mosaic scenarios for different urban forms in Cerdanyola, a 58 thousand-inhabitant town in the\u00a0<a class=\"topic-link\" title=\"Learn more about metropolitan area from ScienceDirect's AI-generated Topic Pages\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/topics\/social-sciences\/metropolitan-area\">metropolitan area<\/a>\u00a0of Barcelona. We combined spatial analysis of potential rooftops, metabolism analysis, and social and\u00a0<a class=\"topic-link\" title=\"Learn more about environmental impacts from ScienceDirect's AI-generated Topic Pages\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/topics\/social-sciences\/human-activities-effects\">environmental impacts<\/a>. The municipality has an average rooftop\/household potential of 31 m<sup>2<\/sup>\u00a0on which to implement any of the mosaic scenarios, with the highest potential in the single-family housing typology. The highest level of vegetable self-sufficiency was found in housing estates (32%), and the lowest in originary fabrics (28%). Regarding electricity and water self-sufficiency, the highest self-sufficiency level was found in the single-family housing typology (51% and 14%, respectively) and the lowest in housing estates (26% and 8%, respectively). Regarding impacts, the implementation of the electricity and\u00a0<a class=\"topic-link\" title=\"Learn more about rainwater from ScienceDirect's AI-generated Topic Pages\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/topics\/engineering\/rainwater\">rainwater<\/a>\u00a0harvesting systems depicts the most positive indicators in single-family housing areas. However, for housing estates and originary fabrics typologies, the best performance is shown to be in the implementation of rooftop farming systems.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Catal\u00e0:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">La depend\u00e8ncia dels recursos externs de les zones urbanes provoca l&#8217;externalitzaci\u00f3 dels impactes ambientals i socioecon\u00f2mics. La implementaci\u00f3 de sistemes de producci\u00f3 d&#8217;aliments, energia i aigua als terrats urbans pot ajudar potencialment a les ciutats a ser m\u00e9s autosuficients, per\u00f2 dep\u00e8n de la morfologia urbana de cada ciutat. Hem estudiat el potencial de subministrament i els impactes de quatre escenaris de mosaics de cobertes per a diferents formes urbanes a Cerdanyola, una ciutat de 58 mil habitants de l&#8217;\u00e0rea metropolitana de Barcelona. Hem combinat l&#8217;an\u00e0lisi espacial de possibles teulades, l&#8217;an\u00e0lisi metab\u00f2lic i els impactes socials i ambientals. El municipi t\u00e9 un potencial mitj\u00e0 terrat\/habitatge de 31 m2, sobre els quals s&#8217;hi podria implantar qualsevol dels escenaris de mosaic, amb el potencial m\u00e9s alt en la tipologia d&#8217;habitatge unifamiliar. El nivell m\u00e9s alt d&#8217;autosufici\u00e8ncia vegetal es va trobar a les urbanitzacions (32%), i el m\u00e9s baix en els teixits originals (28%). Pel que fa a l&#8217;autosufici\u00e8ncia el\u00e8ctrica i h\u00eddrica, el nivell d&#8217;autosufici\u00e8ncia m\u00e9s alt es va trobar a la tipologia d&#8217;habitatge unifamiliar (51% i 14%, respectivament) i el m\u00e9s baix a les urbanitzacions (26% i 8%, respectivament). Pel que fa als impactes, la implantaci\u00f3 dels sistemes de captaci\u00f3 d&#8217;electricitat i aigua de pluja presenta els indicadors m\u00e9s positius a les zones d&#8217;habitatge unifamiliar.
