The event was organized by the Urban School of Science Po in Paris during 11 and 12th of December 2024.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Exploring Multifunctional Nature-Based Solutions for Sustainable Stormwater Management<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Khromova presented her work on developing nature-based solutions (NBS) to mitigate urban runoff through a four-step approach:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Identifying urban needs.<\/li>\n<li>Strategically allocating NBS based on site-specific conditions.<\/li>\n<li>Assessing runoff reduction capacities using the InVEST flood risk mitigation model.<\/li>\n<li>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Modeling the co-benefits of these solutions, including thermal comfort, recreation, water storage, habitat provisioning, and water quality improvements.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The study analyzed two scenarios:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Scenario 1<\/strong>, aligned with the local urban plan <em>Pla Natura 2021-2030<\/em>, aims to provide <strong>1 m\u00b2 of greenery per resident by 2030<\/strong>, translating to <strong>160 hectares of new green spaces<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Scenario 2<\/strong>, a theoretical model, explores a more ambitious expansion, increasing green areas by <strong>2,498 hectares<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This research highlights the potential of NBS to enhance urban resilience while delivering multiple environmental and social benefits.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/webs.uab.cat\/atmosphere\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/692\/2025\/01\/Sveta2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-2900\" src=\"https:\/\/webs.uab.cat\/atmosphere\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/Sveta2-450x600.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"600\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Svetlana Khromova presenting her work at the Nature in the city annual event.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Exploring Multifunctional Nature-Based Solutions for Sustainable Stormwater Management.
