El 2022, durant una intensa onada de calor, la vegetaci\u00f3 va reduir un 27% la seva capacitat d\u2019absorbir CO\u2082, una quantitat equivalent a totes les emissions anuals de l\u2019Estat espanyol. Aquest estudi ha analitzat dades de Portugal, Espanya, el sud de Fran\u00e7a i It\u00e0lia, i ha constatat que els ecosistemes de zones amb climes continentals i humits s\u00f3n m\u00e9s vulnerables a aquests esdeveniments extrems que les regions mediterr\u00e0nies, m\u00e9s adaptades a la calor i la sequera. Aquest desequilibri clim\u00e0tic t\u00e9 implicacions greus per al cicle global del carboni i posa en evid\u00e8ncia la necessitat urgent de millorar la vigil\u00e0ncia dels fluxos de carboni, especialment a les zones m\u00e9s vulnerables, aix\u00ed com de refor\u00e7ar les pol\u00edtiques d\u2019adaptaci\u00f3 i protecci\u00f3 dels ecosistemes naturals.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">La publicaci\u00f3 de l&#8217;investigador Ricard Segura-Barrero est\u00e0 tenint un gran impacte als mitjans. This study has analyzed data from Portugal, Spain, southern France, and Italy, finding that ecosystems in continental and humid climates are more vulnerable to extreme events than Mediterranean regions, which are better adapted to heat and drought.\u00a0 This climate imbalance has serious implications for the global carbon cycle, highlighting the urgent need to improve carbon flux monitoring, especially in the most vulnerable areas, and to strengthen adaptation and natural ecosystem protection policies.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Researcher Ricard Segura-Barrero\u2019s publication is receiving wide media attention.
