Organized by the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bsc.es\/es\"><strong>Barcelona Supercomputing Center \u2013 National Supercomputing Centre (BSC-CNS)<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aemet.es\/es\/portada\"><strong>AEMET<\/strong><\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/respire.bsc.es\/noticias\/tallerrespireclima\"><strong>workshop<\/strong><\/a> brought together more than 80 participants both onsite and online.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">The RESPIRE-CLIMA project offers high-resolution CO\u2082 data across Spain, with spatial and temporal detail of up to 1 km \u00d7 1 km and daily frequency. By combining this high-resolution emission inventory with Vegetation Photosynthesis and Respiration Model (VPRM), the Weather and Research Forecasting model (WRF) coupled with chemical transport (WRF-Chem) and the <a href=\"https:\/\/webs.uab.cat\/atmosphere\/ghg\/\"><strong>GHG monitoring network<\/strong><\/a>, Qing Luo\u2019s work quantifies the CO\u2082 uptake by urban greenery and vegetation in the Metropolitan Area of Barcelona (AMB).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Her study provides an important example of how advanced modelling systems can support regional GHG assessment and monitoring. The presentation highlighted both the robustness of the RESPIRE anthropogenic inventory and the significant role of urban forests and croplands in reducing atmospheric CO\u2082 levels, which is essential for effective GHG monitoring and for informing urban planning strategies aimed at fostering more sustainable and climate-resilient cities.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Qing Luo&apos;s Presentation:<\/p>\n<p>[pdf-embedder url=&quot;https:\/\/webs.uab.cat\/atmosphere\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/Respire-workshop_Qing_13Nov-V2.pdf%22]<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Catal\u00e0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">El 12 de novembre, <a href=\"https:\/\/webs.uab.cat\/atmosphere\/team-member\/qing-luo\/\"><strong>Qing Luo<\/strong><\/a> va presentar la seva recerca al taller <a href=\"https:\/\/respire.bsc.es\/\"><strong data-start=\"136\" data-end=\"153\">RESPIRE-CLIMA<\/strong><\/a>, un esdeveniment clau destinat a refor\u00e7ar el sistema de monitoratge de les emissions de gasos d\u2019efecte hivernacle (GHG) a Espanya. Organitzat pel <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bsc.es\/es\"><strong data-start=\"300\" data-end=\"383\">Barcelona Supercomputing Center \u2013 Centro Nacional de Supercomputaci\u00f3n (BSC-CNS)<\/strong><\/a> i <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aemet.es\/es\/portada\"><strong data-start=\"386\" data-end=\"395\">AEMET<\/strong><\/a>, el taller va reunir m\u00e9s de 80 participants tant de manera presencial com en l\u00ednia.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">El projecte <strong data-start=\"495\" data-end=\"512\">RESPIRE-CLIMA<\/strong> ofereix dades de CO\u2082 d\u2019alta resoluci\u00f3 a escala estatal, amb un detall espacial i temporal de fins a 1 km \u00d7 1 km i freq\u00fc\u00e8ncia di\u00e0ria. Mitjan\u00e7ant la combinaci\u00f3 d\u2019aquest inventari d\u2019emissions d\u2019alta resoluci\u00f3 amb el model de Fotos\u00edntesi i Respiraci\u00f3 de la Vegetaci\u00f3 (VPRM), el model Weather and Research Forecasting (WRF) acoblat al transport qu\u00edmic (WRF-Chem) i la xarxa de<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/webs.uab.cat\/atmosphere\/ghg\/\"> monitoratge de GHG<\/a><\/strong>, el treball de Qing Luo quantifica la captura de CO\u2082 per la vegetaci\u00f3 urbana i periurbana a l\u2019\u00c0rea Metropolitana de Barcelona (AMB).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">El seu estudi constitueix un exemple important de com els sistemes de modelitzaci\u00f3 avan\u00e7ada poden donar suport a l\u2019avaluaci\u00f3 i monitoratge regional dels GHG.
