Shifting from linear to circular food-supply strategies should systemically consider trade-offs that depend on city-specific factors, such as crop patterns, waste management capabilities, and ecosystem status. We investigate these effects spatially and temporally with a tool based on prospective regionalized life cycle assessment to determine how the local and transboundary impacts of various strategies of nutrient circularity (such as struvite, compost, and recovered ammonium salts) applied to peri-UA areas affect climate change, regionalized marine and freshwater eutrophication, abiotic resource depletion, and water consumption, providing maps reflecting crop yields and impacts to aid urban planners. We illustrate with the Metropolitan Area of Barcelona, where we find that applying compost with current waste management infrastructure can reduce the carbon footprint of peri-UA areas by up to 85%.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Catal\u00e0:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">L&#8217;agricultura a la perif\u00e8ria urbana (peri-UA) t\u00e9 el potencial de reduir el seu impacte ambiental mitjan\u00e7ant la recuperaci\u00f3 de nutrients dels residus s\u00f2lids municipals i les aig\u00fces residuals, promovent els cultius locals i despla\u00e7ant certa depend\u00e8ncia de les importacions. La transici\u00f3 d&#8217;estrat\u00e8gies de subministrament alimentari lineals a circulars hauria de considerar sistem\u00e8ticament els compromisos (trade-offs) que depenen de factors espec\u00edfics de cada ciutat, com ara els patrons de cultiu, les capacitats de gesti\u00f3 de residus i l&#8217;estat dels ecosistemes. Investiguem aquests efectes espacialment i temporalment amb una eina basada en l&#8217;an\u00e0lisi de cicle de vida prospectiu i regionalitzat. L&#8217;objectiu \u00e9s determinar com els impactes locals i transfronterers de diverses estrat\u00e8gies de circularitat de nutrients (com l&#8217;estruvita, el compost i les sals d&#8217;amoni recuperades) aplicades a zones peri-UA afecten el canvi clim\u00e0tic, l&#8217;eutrofitzaci\u00f3 marina i d&#8217;aigua dol\u00e7a regionalitzada, l&#8217;esgotament de recursos abi\u00f2tics i el consum d&#8217;aigua. A m\u00e9s, proporcionem mapes que reflecteixen els rendiments dels cultius i els impactes per tal d&#8217;ajudar els planificadors urbans.
