Su cuerpo es de coloraci\u00f3n casta\u00f1o-rojiza, aunque las hembras pueden tener tonos m\u00e1s claros que los machos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify has-alegreya-font-family has-small-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Su cabeza es de forma circular y presenta una gran capacidad de movilidad. Entre los caracteres m\u00e1s destacados tienen un par de ojos reducidos y un par de antenas alargadas y delgadas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify has-alegreya-font-family has-small-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">En el t\u00f3rax es donde encontramos sus dos pares de alas, donde el primero ha sido modificado para formar unos \u00e9litros que cubren casi completamente a su segundo par. Aunque puedan volar, se desplazan principalmente caminando, por lo que cuentan con tres pares de patas bien desarrollados.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify has-alegreya-font-family has-small-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Su abdomen es alargado y presentan al final una estructura en forma de pinzas robustas, los denominados cercos, que les sirven para la reproducci\u00f3n y la defensa. Su forma es ligeramente m\u00e1s paralela y reducida en hembras, mientras que los machos las tienen m\u00e1s curvadas.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-vertical is-layout-flex wp-container-core-group-is-layout-5154c1c1 wp-block-group-is-layout-flex\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>DIETA:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify has-alegreya-font-family has-small-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Estos organismos son omn\u00edvoros. Se alimentan preferiblemente de materia vegetal, pero tambi\u00e9n pueden cazar pulgones y otros insectos de menor tama\u00f1o que ellos.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-vertical is-layout-flex wp-container-core-group-is-layout-5154c1c1 wp-block-group-is-layout-flex\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>ESTRUCTURA SOCIAL Y COMPORTAMIENTO:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify has-alegreya-font-family has-small-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Habitual se comportan de forma solitaria, por lo que es com\u00fan que solo se encuentren rodeados de miembros de su familia. Cabe destacar que las hembras exhiben un comportamiento de protecci\u00f3n continua hacia sus descendientes, caracter\u00edstica rara entre los insectos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify has-alegreya-font-family has-small-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Su estilo de vida es t\u00edpicamente nocturno, de manera que durante el d\u00eda suelen esconderse en refugios situados en grietas, hendiduras, corteza de troncos etc. Es en este momento en el que podemos encontrar a diferentes individuos juntos, mientras que por la noche son m\u00e1s activos y solitarios.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify has-alegreya-font-family has-small-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">El ciclo vital se inicia a finales de verano, momento en el que los machos se ver\u00e1n atra\u00eddos por el olor de las hembras y se reproducir\u00e1n. Posteriormente, la hembra excava unos peque\u00f1os t\u00faneles que servir\u00e1n como nido en el que poner sus 30-60 huevos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify has-alegreya-font-family has-small-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Estos huevos tardaran unos 20 d\u00edas para eclosionar si se ponen en primavera, mientras que si se ponen en invierno pueden llegar a tardar hasta 70 d\u00edas. Al nacer las ninfas deber\u00e1n ser cuidadas por la hembra, que ser\u00e1 quien las proteja y alimente.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify has-alegreya-font-family has-small-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">El desarrollo ninfal consta de 4 fases, que acaban dando lugar a un adulto que ya se encuentra maduro sexualmente.
