A team of more than six people took part in the development of the course, led by Dr. Emilio Fern\u00e1ndez Pe\u00f1a, Director of the Olympic Studies Centre (CEO-UAB) and course instructor.<\/p>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-layout-flex wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link has-background wp-element-button\" href=\"https:\/\/www.coursera.org\/learn\/olympic-games\" style=\"background:linear-gradient(135deg,rgb(154,22,68) 0%,rgb(154,22,68) 100%)\"><strong>Enroll in the course on Coursera<\/strong><\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the course, students explore the world of the media and its role in shaping the Olympic Games, the most important sport&#8217;s event in the world. They learn about the role of the modern Olympic Games in our culture and how certain identities have become financiers of the Olympic Games and the Olympic Movement, promoters of their value system, and creators of the Games\u2019 global image.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Course syllabus<\/h2>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The history of the media and the Olympic Games<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Broadcasting rights and sponsorship programmes<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How the media operate during the Olympic Games<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Television production of the Olympic Games and global audiences<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Opening and closing ceremonies: symbols and rituals of the Games<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Managing new social media platforms, such as Facebook and Twitter, within the Olympic family<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Students receive weekly teaching materials consisting of video-based lessons, assessment quizzes, and complementary readings, and are required to complete several essays.
