Su investigaci\u00f3n se centra en el lenguaje y las desigualdades sociales, el lenguaje y la econom\u00eda pol\u00edtica y el multiling\u00fcismo y la globalizaci\u00f3n. Es el ex-Presidente de la Asociaci\u00f3n Franc\u00f3fona de Socioling\u00fc\u00edstica (RFS) y co-Presidente de la Comisi\u00f3n de las antropolog\u00edas del mundo de la Asociaci\u00f3n Americana de Antropolog\u00eda. Sus publicaciones m\u00e1s recientes son La lengua en el capitalismo tard\u00edo: Orgullo y beneficio (con M\u00f3nica Heller, 2012, Routledge); Lengua, Migraci\u00f3n y Desigualdades Sociales (con Melissa Moyer y Celia Roberts, 2013, Multilingual Matters), Mehrsprachigkeit verwalten? Spannungsfeld Personalrekrutierung beim Bund (con Renata Coray, Emilienne Kobelt et al .., 2015, Seismo Verlag) y Sp\u00e9culations langagi\u00e8res&nbsp;(con Michelle Daveluy de 2015, un n\u00famero especial para la revista Anthropologie et Soci\u00e9t\u00e9s).
