These migrant-owned businesses act as a window into their multimodal and hybrid linguistic and communicative practices, and into their own linguistic hierarchies and non-mainstream sociolinguistic orders. Here, socially displaced but technologically empowered transnational migrant populations actively find subversive ways to access information and communication technologies. As such they mobilise their own resources to successfully inhabit Catalonia, at the margins of powerful institutions. The book also focuses on the (internal) social organisation dynamics, as well as on the simultaneous fight against, and re-production of, practices and processes of social difference and social inequality among migrants themselves.<\/p>\n<p class=\"rtejustify\">Review:<br \/>\nIn her in-depth and, at times, moving ethnography of a Barcelona locutorio, Maria Sabat\u00e9 i Dalmau affords us a unique and fascinating glimpse of migrants\u2019 multilingual practices, connections and mediations normally hidden from view. Williams<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"rtejustify\">Motivados por la preocupaci\u00f3n sobre el futuro de la investigaci\u00f3n en el campo del multiling\u00fcismo, nueve acad\u00e9micos europeos se reunieron en el pueblo de Radein, lugar de trabajo situado a las monta\u00f1as Dolomitas, el septiembre de 2010, para identificar los asuntos que nos presentan m\u00e1s retos sobre el estudio de este \u00e1mbito y para proponer pasos activos a trav\u00e9s de los cuales se pueda promover investigaciones continuas y avanzadas en este campo. La Iniciativa surge de una concienciaci\u00f3n profunda sobre la importancia del multiling\u00fcismo en las sociedades contempor\u00e1neas y de la necesidad de responder a las diversas realidades sociales, culturales y ling\u00fc\u00edsticas con que nos encontramos frente a las fuerzas de mercado global y a la subsiguiente movilidad de personas.<\/p>\n<p class=\"rtejustify\">Sus discusiones se han recogido en este documento borrador que presenta nuevas direcciones de investigaci\u00f3n en torno al multiling\u00fcismo, con el objetivo de iniciar un debate m\u00e1s amplio sobre futuras l\u00edneas de investigaci\u00f3n.
