The primary objective of the Coresidence project is to determine the dimensions of variations in and the rise of intergenerational coresidence around the world and investigate how these trends are related to demographic, social, economic, and cultural\/attitudinal factors. Our driving research questions ask:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. How have demographic changes affected recent trends in intergenerational coresidence? How do these trends vary by gender, social groups and across and within countries? <\/li>
  2. What are the micro and macro-level correlates of major economic and cultural\/attitudinal shifts \u2014including the growth of living standards, urbanization, the rise of wage labor, female labor market participation, mass education, and value change\u2014 for levels and trends in intergenerational coresidence? <\/li>
  3. What are the pathways to intergenerational coresidence? In which family circumstances does intergenerational coresidence take place? How do these pathways vary across societies and social groups? <\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
