UAB jumps 17 positions since last edition and it’s the number one university in Spain in the ranking published by Times Higher Education (THE).

The UAB occupies 12th position worldwide among universities created less than 50 years ago, the best in the state, according to the fifth edition of the yearly 150 Under 50 Rankings published by the Times Higher Education.

The first position in the ranking goes once again to the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, Switzerland. Of Spanish universities, the UAB is at the top of the list, up 17 points from last year's edition and followed by Pompeu Fabra University (down three points, from 12th to 15th position), the Autonomous University of Madrid (from 46 to 71) and Rovira i Virgili University (from 80 to 83).

The classification takes into account teaching quality, research, number of citations, international outlook and knowledge transfer. The methodology is calibrated to prevent reputation from having any specific weight given the characteristics of younger universities.

The UAB has an overall score of 55.8 and stands out in citations (83.8 points), followed by international outlook (50.3 points), research (43.8 points), teaching (43 points), and industry income (34.9 points).
