My current research is focussed on the literature and culture of the South Asian diaspora in the Indian Ocean World, in particular Kenya, Tanzania, Mauritius and South Africa. Our research group Ratnakara is currently working on life writing in the Indian Ocean area.
Ratnakara is recognised by the Catalan Agency for Management of University and Research Grants (AGAUR), reference: 2017 SGR 166
I have also started work on life writing which is linked to the project on creative writing as therapy for victims of gender violence and creative writing of communities such as the Chagossians of Mauritius.
I also work on Indian films, both art cinema and Bollywood.
I am the editor of the electronic journal Indi@logs which published its first issue in April 2014.
I am also interested in environmental issues and I am on the advisory board of EASLCE, the European Association for the Study of Literature, Culture and Environment, see https://www.easlce.eu/
