{"id":145,"date":"2013-12-08T20:59:27","date_gmt":"2013-12-08T19:59:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.uab.cat\/felicityhandcv\/?page_id=145"},"modified":"2013-12-08T20:59:27","modified_gmt":"2013-12-08T19:59:27","slug":"research-areas","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/webs.uab.cat\/felicityhandcv\/research\/research-areas\/","title":{"rendered":"Research Areas"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>My current research is focussed on the literature and culture of the <strong>South Asian diaspora<\/strong> in the\u00a0 Indian Ocean\u00a0 World, in particular Kenya, Tanzania, Mauritius and South Africa. \u00a0 Our research group<span style=\"color: #000080\"> <strong><a style=\"color: #000080\" title=\"Ratnakara\" href=\"http:\/\/grupsderecerca.uab.cat\/ratnakara\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ratnakara<\/a><\/strong><\/span> is currently working on life writing in the Indian Ocean area.<\/p>\n<p>Ratnakara\u00a0 is recognised by the Catalan Agency for Management of University and Research Grants (AGAUR), reference:\u00a0 <strong>2017 SGR 166<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I have also \u00a0started work on life writing which is linked to the project on <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.uab.cat\/nalubaale\/\">creative writing as therapy for victims of gender violence<\/a>\u00a0 <\/strong>and creative writing of communities such as the Chagossians of Mauritius.<strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I also work on <strong>Indian films<\/strong>,\u00a0 both art cinema and Bollywood.<\/p>\n<p>I am the editor of the electronic journal <strong><a title=\"Indi@logs\" href=\"http:\/\/revistes.uab.cat\/indialogs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Indi@logs<\/a><\/strong> which\u00a0 published its first issue in April 2014.<\/p>\n<p>I am also interested in environmental issues and I am on the advisory board of<strong> EASLCE<\/strong>, the European Association for the Study of Literature, Culture and Environment, see\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.easlce.eu\/\">https:\/\/www.easlce.eu\/<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>My current research is focussed on the literature and culture of the South Asian diaspora in the\u00a0 Indian Ocean\u00a0 World, in particular Kenya, Tanzania, Mauritius and South Africa. \u00a0 Our research group Ratnakara is currently working on life writing in the Indian Ocean area.
