Scientific Visit to I3S: Instituto de Investigação e Inovação em Saúde at the University of Porto
The PI of GABRMN, Dr. Ana Paula Candiota, is currently benefiting from a mobility grant provided by CIBER-BBN, awarded for a scientific exchange with the Preclinical Magnetic Resonance section at the Instituto de Investigação e Inovação em Saúde at the University of Porto, currently led by Dr. Rui Simões, a former member of GABRMN from 2006 to 2010. This exchange aims to explore the compatibility of data acquired at different magnetic field strengths (3T vs. 7T) and to address differences in data formats between versions of the Bruker Paravision 360 software. Notably, this will also be the version that the Magnetic Resonance Service at UAB will soon acquire following the console upgrade of its current equipment. This work will also have implications for the TIMER-GLIO project (of which Dr. Simões is a team member) and the EUCAIM project, further strengthening the collaboration between the two institutions. Dr. Candiota will also deliver a seminar on the group’s work and the ties between the institutions on Monday, February 10th, at 3pm, at the Corino de Andrade auditorium at I3S.

PhD extraordinary prizes
The GABRMN has recently received the news that the doctoral thesis of Maria del Pilar Calero-Pérez, supervised by Dr. Ana Paula Candiota and Dr. Carles Arús and titled “On the road to improve glioblastoma therapy follow-up. Immune microenvironment: what is behind the MRSI-based nosological images?” has been awarded the Extraordinary Doctorate Prize by the UAB. The award ceremony will take place on November 15 at the Hotel Campus.
Scientific events in which GABRMN has recently participated or will participate:

1. ESMRMB (European Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine and Biology) 40th Annual Congress.
Barcelona, 2-5 October, 2024
The premier European congress for the scientific community dedicated to all modalities of magnetic resonance applied to medicine and biology

El GABRMN will participate with a talk by Dr. Ana Paula Candiota entitled “Tuning immunotherapy and molecular imaging to improve outcome in glioblastoma“.
Moreover, we will participate with a poster untitled “Unraveling metabolomic changes in GL261 GB responding to TMZ therapy through high-resolution magic angle spinning data“, accounting with participation of members from Instituto Interuniversitario de Investigación de Reconocimiento Molecular y Desarrollo Tecnológico (IDM) (Dr. Mª Carmen Martínez-Bisbal) and from Biomedical Magnetic Resonance Laboratory-BMRL (Dra. Maria Luisa García-Martín).
2. NanoMedicine International Conference – NanoMed 2024
Barcelona, 23-25 October, 2024

NanoMedicine 2024 will cover the most recent international developments in the fields of Nanobiotechnology and Nanomedicine. Participants will gain a comprehensive overview of the state of the art in these fields, as well as insights into ongoing research and the latest results. Recent advances, challenges, and breakthroughs, as well as emerging and future trends in the converging fields of Nanotechnology, Biotechnology, and Medicine, will be discussed.
