{"id":619,"date":"2023-12-29T12:53:00","date_gmt":"2023-12-29T10:53:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/webs.uab.cat\/gabrmn\/ciber-affiliation\/"},"modified":"2026-04-02T19:56:47","modified_gmt":"2026-04-02T17:56:47","slug":"ciber-affiliation","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/webs.uab.cat\/gabrmn\/en\/ciber-affiliation\/","title":{"rendered":"CIBER Affiliation"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"40\" src=\"https:\/\/webs.uab.cat\/gabrmn\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/424\/2024\/01\/image-4.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-552\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Our research group is part of the Consorcio Centro de Investigaci\u00f3n Biom\u00e9dica en Red (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ciberisciii.es\/quienes-somos\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CIBER<\/a>) since its creation in 2007, specifically in the area of Bioengineering, Biomaterials and Nanomedicine area, with the code <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ciber-bbn.es\/grupos\/grupo-de-investigacion?id=5401\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CB06-01-0010<\/a>, a group lead by Prof. Carles Ar\u00fas since its creation and until November 2024, when Dr. Ana Paula Candiota has assumed the leadership. This group has accounted with stable senior researchers such as Margarida Juli\u00e0 (period 2007-2021) and Ana Paula Candiota (period 2007-2023), along with different members from clinical, basic research and bioinformatic environments. Since November 2025, Ana Azaustre Garcia is a predoctoral student hired by CIBER within our group. The group is also in charge of Unit 25 of ICTS NANBIOSIS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Objectives and thematic areas<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The objective of <strong>CIBER<\/strong>, created through an initiative of <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.isciii.es\/\" target=\"_blank\">Instituto de Salud Carlos III (ISCIII)<\/a>, is to boost the research of excellence in Biomedicine and Health Sciences. In order to achieve this aim, multi-institutional and interdisciplinar resources and efforts are focused with a preferent dedication to knowledge networks formed by centers and research groups from public and private institutions. Subt\u00edtulos espa\u00f1ol.\" width=\"580\" height=\"326\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/5FjtrjOy2Wg?start=4&#038;feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The origen of CIBER traces back to 2006 when 7 of the consortia were created (<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ciber-bbn.es\/\" target=\"_blank\">CIBERBBN<\/a>, <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ciberehd.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">CIBEREHD<\/a>, <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ciberned.es\/\" target=\"_blank\">CIBERBNED<\/a>, <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ciberer.es\/\" target=\"_blank\">CIBERER<\/a>, <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ciberes.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">CIBERES<\/a>, <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ciberesp.es\/\" target=\"_blank\">CIBERESP<\/a> y <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ciberobn.es\/\" target=\"_blank\">CIBEROBN<\/a>). In 2007 two further consortiums were created, <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.cibersam.es\/\" target=\"_blank\">CIBERSAM<\/a> y <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ciberdem.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">CIBERDEM<\/a>. In 2013, with effects to 1 January 2014, in the frame of Plan de reestructuraci\u00f3n y racionalizaci\u00f3n del Sector P\u00fablico, the integraton of CIBER-BBN, CIBEREHD, CIBERER, CIBERES, CIBERESP, CIBEROBN, CIBERDEM y CIBERSAM in a single Consortium named Consorcio denominado Consorcio Centro de Investigaci\u00f3n Biom\u00e9dica en Red, <strong>CIBER,<\/strong> was approved. In 1 January 2017, within the call Acci\u00f3n Estrat\u00e9gica en Salud 2013-2016, new thematic areas and groups were incorporated to the Consorcio CIBER. The new thematic areas were the following: Fragilidad y Envejecimiento Saludable (<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ciberfes.es\/\" target=\"_blank\">CIBERFES<\/a>), Enfermedades Cardiovasculares (<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.cibercv.es\/\" target=\"_blank\">CIBERCV<\/a>) and C\u00e1ncer (<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ciberonc.es\/\" target=\"_blank\">CIBERONC<\/a>).
