Within this framework, GBBE provides a structured and internationally-oriented training environment for early-career researchers. Doctoral candidates are enrolled in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uab.cat\/en\/phds\/genetics\">PhD Program in Genetics<\/a> (UAB) or in the interuniversity <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uab.cat\/en\/phds\/bioinformatics\">PhD Program in Bioinformatics<\/a> (UAB, UPC, UdG, UdL, UOC, UVic, URV, UB), both with strong international projection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Training includes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.uab.cat\/en\/doctoral-school\/transversal-activities\">Transversal training<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uab.cat\/en\/doctoral-school\/competitions-awards\">competitions and awards<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Scientific writing and publication in high-impact journals<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Regular participation in national and international conferences<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Weekly meetings and journal clubs<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Biweekly seminar series<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Annual <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uab.cat\/web\/esdeveniments\/x-jornades-de-biorecerca-2025-1345963157134.html\">department scientific meetings<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Occasional <a href=\"https:\/\/alfredosfest.omicsuab.org\/\">SGR scientific retreats<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>International research stays (<em>e.g., the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL, Heidelberg), the Universit\u00e9 Claude Bernard (Lyon), the Institut de G\u00e9n\u00e9tique Humaine (Montpellier), the University of Arizona, and the University College London<\/em>)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Participation in teaching and outreach<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Over four decades, more than 50 PhD students and postdoctoral researchers have been trained in the group, many now holding academic or industry positions worldwide (<em>e.g., the University of Arizona, the University Medical Center Utrecht, the University of Lisbon, the University of Liverpool, the RIKEN iTHEMS Japan, Clarivate, and Made of Genes<\/em>).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The UAB holds the HR Excellence in Research distinction since 2014, reflecting its commitment to high-quality research careers.
