In 2003, after Jordi Arbon\u00e8s’ family donated his personal legacy, the university Universitat Aut\u00f2noma de Barcelona set up the chair C\u00e0tedra de Traducci\u00f3 Jordi Arbon\u00e8s<\/a> with the aim of investigating literary translation. This compelled a group of lecturers to work together in various aspects of translation history. The Grup d\u2019Estudi de la Traducci\u00f3 Catalana Contempor\u00e0nia (GETCC) became official in 2009, with the recognition of the agency Ag\u00e8ncia de Gesti\u00f3 d’Ajuts Universitaris i de Recerca (AGAUR)\u00a0(2009 SGR 1294;\u00a02014 SGR 285 and 2017 SGR 1155). At the same time, the group received funding for the\u00a0R&D project:\u00a0\u00abLa traducci\u00f3n en el sistema literario catal\u00e1n: exilio, g\u00e9nero e ideolog\u00eda (1939-2000)\u00bb (FFI2010-19851-C2-1-P), coordinated with the project\u00a0\u00abTraductoras y traducciones en la Catalu\u00f1a contempor\u00e1nea (1939-2000)\u00bb (FFI2010-19851-C2-2-P), developed by\u00a0the group Estudis de G\u00e8nere: Traducci\u00f3, Literatura, Hist\u00f2ria i Comunicaci\u00f3<\/a> (Universitat de Vic), and other funding for the\u00a0coordinated R&D project: \u00abLa traducci\u00f3n catalana contempor\u00e1nea: censura y pol\u00edticas editoriales, g\u00e9nero e ideolog\u00eda (1939-2000)\u00bb (FFI2014-52989-C2-1-P), funded by the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness. In collaboration with GETCC, the group\u00a0Estudis de G\u00e8nere: Traducci\u00f3, Literatura, Hist\u00f2ria i Comunicaci\u00f3<\/a>\u00a0carries out the project\u00a0\u00abTraducci\u00f3n y censura: g\u00e9nero e ideolog\u00eda\u00a0(1939-2000)\u00bb\u00a0(FFI2014-52989-C2-2-P).<\/p>\n

The main research areas of the Universitat Aut\u00f2noma de Barcelona’s (UAB) Contemporary Catalan Translation Study Group (GETCC) are:<\/p>\n

1. Contemporary Catalan Translation: theorical, linguistic and cultural perspectives.<\/p>\n

2. Retranslations and rewritings in the contemporary catalan literary system.<\/p>\n

3. Relationships between contemporary catalan literature and other literatures.<\/p>\n

4. Edition, self-censorship and exile.<\/p>\n

5. Current translation practice.<\/p>\n

Among other works, and in collaboration with the group\u00a0Estudis de G\u00e8nere: Traducci\u00f3, Literatura, Hist\u00f2ria i Comunicaci\u00f3<\/a>, the GETCC has carried out important researches in the field of translation and translation history, such as the Diccionari de la traducci\u00f3 catalana<\/em><\/a> (2011).<\/p>\n\n\n
