It is one of the most coveted honours handed out by the IT Society, and with the <a href=\"https:\/\/arxiv.org\/abs\/0912.5537\">Quantum Reverse Shannon Theorem<\/a>, the first time a paper squarely in quantum information theory has been recognised. Along with the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.itsoc.org\/honors\/claude-e-shannon-award\">Claude E Shannon Award<\/a> for <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Alexander_Holevo\">Alexander Holevo<\/a> in 2016, quantum information has finally arrived in the mainstream of information theory. The award was announced during the <a href=\"https:\/\/isit2017.org\">2017&nbsp;International Symposium on Information Theory<\/a> (ISIT), which was held 26-30 June 2017 in Aachen, Germany.
