GLOBAL INTEL Dr Lidia Ballesta will lead DITRIG project in 2024. It is a cycle of multidisciplinary seminars that end with a day of reflections and conclusions. The seminars and the day will be open to the university community and will also be collected and broadcast in a podcast for the transfer of knowledge.
The cycle consists of three large thematic blocks in which the following issues are addressed:
I.- Equality and international law: the situation of women and LGTBI migrants and refugees, Spain, international organizations for the protection of women’s rights and equality: the CEDAW committee, the GREVIO of the Council of Europe (in relation to the Istanbul Convention); the action of the Institutions of the European Union in matters of Equality.
II.- Equality in Culture and Sports: Women in sports, both as athletes and managers; the situation of transgender and non-binary people in competitions; women in culture, cultural creators and gender.
III.- Equality on social networks and the media: hate speech against women and “anti-gender” on social networks and the media; misinformation and gender bias; the role of the media in the (de)construction of gender stereotypes.
The cycle of seminars will close with a day of conclusions where it is intended to provide reflection and possible legal solutions to the issues raised, from a multilevel perspective; autonomous, state and European.
The theoretical approach to the activity translates into a transfer of knowledge to society. The topics addressed are current and relevant in the current socioeconomic context, which is why studies for gender equality must be addressed from a transnational perspective.
The project has been funded with 20.000 € by the Spanish Ministry of Equality. More information about the programme will be detailed in the coming weeks.
