The Area of ​​Public International Law and International Relations of the University of Cádiz has organized in Ceuta the Conference “Ceuta and Melilla, Democratic Cities of the EU in the Southern Mediterranean”, held within the framework of the Master in International Relations and Migrations / Master in International Relations and Migrations (International and European Studies) of the University of Cádiz.

The conference included different activities that aim to show an updated balance of the migration situation in the city of Ceuta with the purpose of analyzing the importance of Ceuta and Melilla due to their condition of being the only two territories of the European Union on the African continent. Among other activities, a visit to the border fence of the autonomous city and the holding of conferences, round tables and debates at the UNED-Ceuta Headquarters are planned.

The event been co-organized by the Center for International and European Studies of the Strait Area (SEJ572) of the University of Cádiz and the Center of the National University of Distance Education (UNED) in Ceuta and Melilla. The panel of Dr Pi was entitled “Ceuta y Melilla: inmigración, derechos humanos y Unión Europea”
