On 18 December 2024, Anna Ayuso participated in the event “Deniers in Power: Climate Challenges and Global Imbalances in the New Trump Era”, in Secció d’Ecologia de l’Ateneu Barcelonès (Barcelona)
Anna Ayuso started by stating that the most vulnerable people in southern countries are those who are already suffering the most from the effects of the climate crisis, and that from there they challenge the solutions proposed by northern countries from what they describe as climate colonialism.
She also highlighted that governments are motivated by interests and needs, but also by the pressure of six public opinions, and that COP29 has also served to know what is necessary to confront the climate crisis on the planet. She also pointed out that on the one hand there are many skeptical people and on the other, deniers organized with political objectives, and that they must be faced in a differentiated way, and by putting on the table the damage that the climate crisis is already causing.
