Mireia Esparza

Graduated in Biology from the Universitat of Barcelona in 1995 and PhD from the same University en 2004. European Master in Physical Anthropology from the Vrije Universiteit of Brussel (Bèlgica). Predoctoral Research and Teaching fellow from 1998 to 2001 and professor at the Universitat de Barcelona from 2001 until now.

My research is mainly focused on biodemography, specifically in the analysis of the determinants of fertility, the use of surnames in the analysis of inbreeding and the effect of barriers in marriage relationships among populations.
