{"id":4162201417,"date":"2024-11-07T11:49:00","date_gmt":"2024-11-07T11:49:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/greip.uab.cat\/?p=4162201417"},"modified":"2025-05-07T18:34:04","modified_gmt":"2025-05-07T18:34:04","slug":"empowering-youth-through-language-ai-and-sustainable-advocacy-a-telecollaborative-approach","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/webs.uab.cat\/greip\/empowering-youth-through-language-ai-and-sustainable-advocacy-a-telecollaborative-approach\/","title":{"rendered":"Empowering Youth Through Language, AI, and Sustainable Advocacy: A Telecollaborative Approach"},"content":{"rendered":"\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On Saturday, October 27th, our GREIP research leader, Dr. Melinda Dooly, alongside PhD students Maria Mont and Ese Emmanuel Uwosomah, and Onyemowo Ejeme from Oakbridge Foundation, Abuja, Nigeria, presented a paper at the Iowa State University conference.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Their presentation focused on the Young Activists\u2019 telecollaboration project, a pioneering educational initiative connecting students from Spain (ages 9-10) and Nigeria (ages 10-14). They demonstrated how this project integrates language learning, AI, and sustainable advocacy among children from diverse backgrounds, guided by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with a particular focus on raising awareness about the global water crisis (SDG6).
