The Observatory of Digital Skills and Employability is a project promoted by the IMANcorp FOUNDATION which has commissioned the Education and Work Research Group (GRET) to analyze the level of digital skills of the population and its relationship with employability in different economic sectors, as well as the impact of digitalization on the labor market.
The sectors analyzed include SMEs in the automotive, logistics and facility management sectors, the hotel sector and the general working population. Each year, one or more sectors have been analyzed.
OBJECTIVES
The general objectives of the project are:
- Diagnose the level of digital skills of the Spanish population , analyzing the differences according to sociodemographic variables (age, educational level, occupation, gender, etc.).
- Evaluate the impact of digitalization on employability , identifying digital gaps and their consequences on access to the labor market.
- Study the transformation of professional qualifications in strategic sectors (automotive, logistics, facility management and hospitality) due to the incorporation of digital technologies.
- Analyze training needs derived from digitalization to offer recommendations on educational and continuing training policies for workers and companies.
- Develop digital skills indicators that allow monitoring of their evolution and their influence on the long-term labor market.
METHODOLOGY
The project uses a mixed methodology that combines quantitative and qualitative techniques:
- Secondary database analysis :
- Official surveys such as the TIC-Hogares from the INE and employment data from the SEPE.
- Data from European surveys on digitalization and the labor market.
- Quantitative methods :
- Own surveys of companies and workers to identify digital needs and skills gaps.
- Indices and indicators of digital skills according to different sociodemographic and occupational variables.
- Qualitative methods :
- Interviews with experts in education, employment and digitalization.
- Discussion groups with representatives of companies, unions and educational institutions to compare results and obtain qualitative insights into the impact of digitalization.
