#GROW is a three-year project carried out by Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) and Politecnico di Milano, and funded by Fondazione Cariplo. The project analyses the influence of Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) services on women’s participation in the labour market.
A brief project description
The #GROW project develops a mixed-method approach to investigate the territorial distribution of ECEC (Early Childhood Education and Care) services in Italy. The research integrates a social policy approach with advanced statistical techniques to analyse the influence of ECEC services on women’s participation in the labour market. The two disciplines complement each other, leading to a multidisciplinary approach to nurture policy recommendations for an effective expansion of ECEC services.
Research questions:
#GROW addresses the following research questions:
- Does the influence of ECEC services on women’s participation in the labour market differ among Italian provinces?
- What is the optimal level of childcare provision for women’s labour market participation and children’s involvement in education?
- What ECEC provision model allows reaching the most efficient growth to comply with the EU target of 50% of children enrolled by 2030?
