It was selected in the top 5 universities to reach the label of Campus of International Excellence from the Spanish government. UAB participates in the project via the Research&nbsp;<a title=\"Caiac\" href=\"http:\/\/centresderecerca.uab.cat\/caiac\/content\/phd\">Center for Ambient Intelligence and Accessibility of Catalonia (CAIAC)<\/a>&nbsp;from the Engineering School and Translation Studies Department. Created in July 2010, it comprises 60 members, it aims to understand and analyze human reaction through perception and cognition research. CAIAC includes experienced and young researchers from eight different departments with multimedia content, accessibility and technology the common meeting point producing, among others, multiplatform interactive channels with advanced multilingual capabilities. The UAB team is multidisciplinary with experts from the field of engineering, psychology and audiovisual translation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a title=\"UPM\" href=\"http:\/\/www.upm.es\/institucional\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"Logo and website link of Universidad Polit\u00e9cnica de Madrid (UPM)\" width=\"187\" height=\"153\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.uab.cat\/intranetdtieao\/files\/2017\/03\/UPM_GIF1.gif\" alt=\"Universidad Polit\u00e9cnica de Madrid (UPM), technical university logo and website link\">Universidad Polit\u00e9cnica de Madrid (UPM)<\/a>, Spain\u2019s oldest and largest technical university, has participated in more than 130 European R&amp;D projects over the past four years. The research centre for HBB4ALL collaboration in UPM is the&nbsp;Telecommunication Engineering School (E.T.S. Ingenieros de Telecomunicaci\u00f3n)&nbsp;ETSIT-UPM, through the research group \u201cVisual Telecommunication Application Group\u201d (G@TV), which has experience in multimedia modelling, digital image processing, accessibility, design and implementation of transmission channels and video communications. G@TV is in charge of the&nbsp;<a title=\"The Indra Fundation Adecco Chain for the accessibility\" href=\"http:\/\/www.indracompany.com\/en\/prensa\/actual-indra\/edition\/2013\/7\/commitment-to-accessibility-18081\">Indra-Fundaci\u00f3n Adecco Chair<\/a>&nbsp;for the accessible technologies, which aims the audiovisual accessibility and the work integration of people with disabilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>BROADCASTERS: RBB, RTP, TVC and Swiss TXT<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><a title=\"RBB\" href=\"http:\/\/www.rbb-online.de\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg (RBB), German broadcaster logo and website link\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.uab.cat\/intranetdtieao\/files\/2017\/03\/RBB.gif\" alt=\"Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg (RBB), German broadcaster logo and website link\" width=\"186\" height=\"80\"><\/a><a title=\"RBB\" href=\"http:\/\/www.rbb-online.de\/\">Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg (RBB)<\/a>&nbsp;is the public broadcaster for the federal states of Berlin and Brandenburg and part of the&nbsp;<a title=\"ARD\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ard.de\/home\/ard\/ARD_Startseite\/21920\/index.html\">ARD<\/a><a title=\"ARD\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ard.de\/home\/ard\/ARD_Startseite\/21920\/index.html\">&nbsp;(Association of Public Service Broadcasting Corporations)<\/a>&nbsp;in Germany. It produces and broadcasts one television channel and six radio stations and provides interactive services including websites, mobile, teletext and HbbTV-based connected TV services. RBB has longstanding experience in EC co-funded research projects, gaining extensive knowledge in the creation of innovative formats and services, in content production, distribution and user experience testing of services. Recent activities concentrated on accessibility services, collaborative content production, personalized media, and especially the future of HbbTV \u2013 also in the context of improved accessibility for hearing and sight impaired people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a title=\"RTP\" href=\"http:\/\/www.rtp.pt\/homepage\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"Radio e Televisao de Portugal (RTP), Portuguese public radio and television broadcaster, logo and website link\" width=\"188\" height=\"168\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.uab.cat\/intranetdtieao\/files\/2017\/03\/RTP.png\" alt=\"Radio e Televisao de Portugal (RTP), Portuguese public radio and television broadcaster, logo and website link\"><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rtp.pt\/\">Radio e Televisao de Portugal (RTP)<\/a>&nbsp;is the Portuguese public radio and television broadcaster, the oldest and largest media enterprise in Portugal. HbbTV services are operational on an experimental basis. RTP has internationally-recognised experience in the planning and implementation of television accessibility, not just access services but also a broad interpretation of accessible media developed for and with persons with disabilities. RTP\u2019s professional network in TV accessibility policy, regulation and standardization wants to ensure the take-up of media accessibility not only in Europe but also in territories that make use of European standards (DVB, HbbTV among others).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.tv3.cat\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"Televisio de Catalunya (TVC), Spanish Catalan public broadcaster, logo and website link\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.uab.cat\/intranetdtieao\/files\/2017\/03\/TVC_color1-280x136.png\" alt=\"Televisio de Catalunya (TVC), Spanish Catalan public broadcaster\" width=\"196\" height=\"96\"><\/a><a title=\"TVC\" href=\"http:\/\/www.tv3.cat\/\">Televisio de Catalunya (TVC)<\/a>&nbsp;is a Spanish Catalan public broadcaster with long standing experience both in research projects (DTV4ALL, TV-RING) and industrial applications in digital DVB-T broadcasting, interactive online applications, IPTV HbbTV applications (of which TV-RING is a prime example), mobile apps, subtitle management, generation, broadcasting and online publishing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swisstxt.ch\/de\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"Swiss TXT, public broadcaster logo and website link\" width=\"197\" height=\"43\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.uab.cat\/intranetdtieao\/files\/2017\/03\/logo.png\" alt=\"Swiss TXT, public broadcaster logo and website link\"><\/a><a title=\"Swiss TXT\" href=\"http:\/\/www.swisstxt.ch\/de\">SWISS TXT<\/a>&nbsp;is a company of the public broadcaster SRG\/SSR in Switzerland and provides a vast variety of services to the broadcaster and other third party customers. One of its sectors is subtitling where SWISS TXT supplies more than 24\u2019000 hours of subtitling per year in three languages (German, French and Italian) on seven TV channels. SWISS TXT wants to optimize \u2013 through the HBB4ALL project \u2013 the integration of access services of a broadcaster (subtitling, signed programs and audiodescription) into the service at reasonable cost.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>RESEARCH INSTITUTES: IRT and VIC<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.irt.de\/en\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"Institut fur Rundfunktechnik, German Public Service Broadcasters, logo and website link\" width=\"197\" height=\"30\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.uab.cat\/intranetdtieao\/files\/2017\/03\/IRT_PNG-300x44.png\" alt=\"Institut fur Rundfunktechnik, German Public Service Broadcasters, logo and website link\"><\/a>Institut fur Rundfunktechnik (IRT)\u00a0is the specialized non-profit broadcast and multimedia technology institute (founded in 1956,) company, IRT jointly owned by the German speaking Public Service Broadcasters of Germany, Austria and Switzerland (ARD, ZDF, DRadio, ORF and SRG\/SSR). IRT strongly favours open technical standards and horizontal system markets. Consequently, IRT is heavily involved in the technical work of the EBU (the European Broadcasting Union) and is an active contributor to the relevant standardisation bodies and initiatives, from WorldDMB to HbbTV, and from ETSI to ITU.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.vicomtech.org\/en\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"Vicomtech (VIC), research centre logo and website link\" width=\"200\" height=\"68\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.uab.cat\/intranetdtieao\/files\/2017\/03\/caiacTwLogo.png\" alt=\"Vicomtech (VIC), research centre logo and website link\">Vicomtech (VIC)<\/a>&nbsp;is an applied research centre for Interactive Computer Graphics and Multimedia located in San Sebastian (Spain). It is a non-profit association, founded in 2001 as a joint venture by&nbsp;<a title=\"The INI-GraphicsNet Foundation\" href=\"http:\/\/ebn24.com\/index.php?id=35326&amp;L=1\">the INI-GraphicsNet Foundation<\/a>&nbsp;and the EiTB Broadcasting Group. The role of VIC in the market is to supply the society with technology by transfer of primary research to industry. This is done through collaborative R&amp;D projects. VIC\u2019s main research lines lay in the fields of multimedia, computer graphics and interaction. The company\u2019s long term research expertise includes state-of-the-art technologies within different areas of networked media ranging from interactive and immersive video, multimedia analysis as well as object detection and tracking for augmented reality enabled applications. vsonix aims at the exploitation of actual research in visual computing to provide innovative media services and applications for web based and mobile platforms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.screensystems.tv\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"Screen Subtitling Systems project partner, logo and website link\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.uab.cat\/intranetdtieao\/files\/2017\/03\/SCREEN_Full-300x54.png\" alt=\"Screen Subtitling Systems project partner, logo and website link\" width=\"178\" height=\"33\"><\/a><a title=\"SCREEN Systems\" href=\"http:\/\/www.screensystems.tv\/\">Screen Subtitling Systems<\/a>, based in the UK, started life back in 1976 as Screen Electronics and pioneered and launched the first ever electronic subtitling system, providing the first digital character generator to the BBC. As one of the market leaders, Screen specialises in developing products for the preparation and delivery of subtitling and value-add information services across multiple platforms and devices including HbbTV and Smart TV platforms. Screen\u2019s major customers in the worldwide broadcast market include broadcast networks, content producers and service companies. Screen have consistently innovated world-leading systems to reduce production costs and increase transmission reliability and capability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.peoplesplayground.nl\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"People's playground (PPG) project partner, logo and website link\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.uab.cat\/intranetdtieao\/files\/2017\/03\/PPG.jpg\" alt=\"People's playground (PPG) project partner, logo and website link\" width=\"178\" height=\"66\"><\/a><a title=\"PPG\" href=\"http:\/\/www.peoplesplayground.nl\/\">People\u2019s playground (PPG)<\/a>&nbsp;is based in Amsterdam (Netherlands, NL) and was founded in 2010, on firm background experience in web software development, i.e. video\/media streaming and backend technology. The last three years PPG has been involved in several Connected TV and HbbTV R&amp;D projects for various clients, e.g. NPO\u2019s (and NL\u2019s first) HbbTV catch-up service portal \u201cNPO Uitzending Gemist\u201d. PPG is a member of the Dutch HbbTV forum which aims to set the standards for nation-wide implementation of HbbTV within the Netherlands.
