Biblioteca d\u2019Humanitats \u2013 Jes\u00fas L\u00f3pez Library of Egyptology<\/b><\/p>\n

The\u00a0<\/span>Biblioteca d\u2019Humanitats<\/i><\/span>\u00a0of the\u00a0<\/span>Universitat Aut\u00f2noma de Barcelona<\/i><\/span>\u00a0has a specialized section on Egyptology with some 5,000 volumes including monographs and journals. It is called the\u00a0<\/span>Jes\u00fas L\u00f3pez Library of Egyptology<\/i><\/span>, in honour of the Egyptologist\u00a0<\/span>Prof. Jes\u00fas L\u00f3pez<\/b><\/span>\u00a0(1933-2002), researcher at the CNRS in France and member and professor at the\u00a0<\/span>Institut d\u2019Estudis del Pr\u00f2xim Orient Antic<\/i><\/span>\u00a0(Institute for Ancient Near Eastern Studies) (IEPOA) of the UAB, since the main collection and initial nucleus of the library originated from a donation by his family after his death.<\/span><\/p>\n

Indeed, the\u00a0<\/span>Jes\u00fas L\u00f3pez Library of Egyptology<\/i><\/span>\u00a0is the result of the collection of various bibliographic funds donated to the university and the acquisitions of the IEPOA through its research projects.<\/span><\/p>\n\n

These are the funds from donations:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1) Personal fund of Prof. Jes\u00fas L\u00f3pez, donated after his death by his widow, Mrs. Chiara L\u00f3pez (2002).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2) Fund donated by the former Aula Aegyptiaca Foundation of Barcelona after its extinction (2005).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3) Personal fund donated by Prof. Alberto J. Quevedo \u00c1lvarez, specialist in Coptic studies (year 2019).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4) Complete publications (except out-of-print titles) from the Czech Institute of Egyptology (Charles University, Prague) on loan from its director, Prof. Miroslav B\u00e1rta (year 2022).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to these funds, there are ongoing acquisitions by the IEPOA, including the complete publication catalogues (except out-of-print titles) from the Institut Fran\u00e7ais d\u2019Arch\u00e9ologie Orientale<\/em> in Cairo and the Australian Centre for Egyptology in Sydney, and an important fund of monographs and journals from the Biblioteca di Egittologia<\/em> of the Universit\u00e0 degli Studi di Milano<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Jes\u00fas L\u00f3pez Library of Egyptology<\/em> is located in a comfortable and ample space on the third floor of the Biblioteca d\u2019Humanitats<\/em> of the UAB.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
