His lines of musicological research include historical and interpretive aspects of music from the 15th to the 19th centuries, as well as themes of musical thought and aesthetics, on which he has published numerous books and articles, and presented papers and communications at national and international conferences. international. He has received various awards for musicological research, such as the Higini Angl\u00e8s awards from the Catalan Society of Musicology (1977), the G\u00fcell Foundation from the Royal Catalan Academy of Fine Arts of Sant Jordi (1982), the Emili Pujol (1991), the Ernest Lluch Foundation ( 2008), E. Lluch Ciutat d&#8217;Olot Scholarship (2010) and Joan Mercader (Igualada (2014). He has been secretary of the Josep Ricart i Matas Institute of Musicology (1979-2002) and of the <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.iec.cat\/scmus\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Societat Catalana de Musicologia<\/strong><\/a> (1992-2004). He is a corresponding academician of the Reial Acad\u00e8mia Catalana de Belles Arts de Sant Jordi (2007) and a member of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.iec.cat\/activitats\/entrada.asp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Institut d\u2019Estudis Catalans<\/strong><\/a>. His doctoral dissertation focuses on the history of the Santa Maria del Pi music chapel in Barcelona during the period 1700-1936, examining the standard of living of its musicians by comparing their income with macroeconomic data. Since 2016, he has contributed to the cataloging of musical collections for the IFMuC project (UAB), which he has also coordinated since 2023. With a particular interest in Optical Music Recognition (OMR) and Handwritten Music Recognition (HMR) technologies, he has participated in the DoLoRes project at the UAB Computer Vision Center, where he contributed to the development of software for the automatic transcription of handwritten scores.
