The Pablo de Olavide University is once again taking part in Science Week, an annual science dissemination event that will be held throughout Europe from 4 to 19 November 2024. The event, which at this university is organised through the Office for the Transfer of Research Results (OTRI)<\/a> of the Vice-Rectorate for Research, Transfer and Doctoral Studies, will be attended by more than 300 students from Secondary Education, Baccalaureate and Vocational Training in the province of Seville.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Coffee with Science’ <\/a>will be the activity that will open the Science Week at the UPO on Monday 4 November, at 10:00 am at the Rectorate. These are meetings between scientists with small groups of students and their respective teaching staff with the aim of sharing experiences and bringing young people closer to research. In this way, each scientist will sit down to \u2018have coffee\u2019 and chat with groups of students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year a total of 20 Caf\u00e9s with Science have been organised at the Olavide that will deal with topics as diverse as the ways to make a fairer and more inclusive society from the social sciences; urban transformation; fertility in humans; recombinant proteins; or mental health, a very current topic. Precisely, in the context of social sciences and social inequality, INCASI2 has a table in which the aforementioned activity has been developed.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

After the Caf\u00e9s, thanks to the collaboration of the Vice-Rectorate for Students, Employability and Entrepreneurship of the Pablo de Olavide University, the schools will also participate in a guided tour of the UPO campus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Caf\u00e9 con Ciencia is an initiative of the Descubre Foundation, in collaboration with the main research and dissemination organisations in Andalusia. It is part of the activities of Science Week and is funded by the Regional Ministry of University, Research and Innovation and the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, the talk \u2018Stop being a drop and become the sea. Experiences in the socio-ecological transition’, which will be given at the Casa de la Ciencia, in Seville, on Wednesday 13 November, from 18:00 to 19:30. Coordinated by Marian P\u00e9rez Bernal, researcher at the Philosophy Department of the UPO, the talk will deal with social resilience between members of the Pablo de Olavide University group of the CoNECT Project (Collective Networks for Everyday Community Resilience and Ecological Transition) and members of the Alal\u00e1 Foundation, El Huerto del Rey Moro and Parque Estoril. Admission is free until full capacity is reached.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this edition of Science Week, researchers from the Pablo de Olavide University are taking part in the following areas: Molecular Biology; Microbiology; Quantitative Methods for Economics and Business; Applied Mathematics; Financial Economics and Accounting; Physical and Sports Education; Sociology; Physiology; Language and Computer Systems; Didactics and Educational Organisation; Cell Biology; Crystallography and Mineralogy; Physical Chemistry; Spanish Language; Ecology; Human Geography; Social Work and Social Services; Philosophy; and the Andalusian Centre for Developmental Biology (CABD).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

23 years disseminating science in Andalusia<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Science Week in Andalusia is an unmissable event to learn about the advances made in science and research in our autonomous community, a true celebration of science dissemination that will take place throughout Europe from 4 to 17 November 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Seminars, conferences, didactic itineraries, screenings, guided tours, open days, workshops, 2.0 activities, etc. In a different, original and entertaining way, Science Week in Andalusia celebrates 23 years bringing quality, sustainable and inclusive science to all Andalusians, while highlighting the value of investment in research and knowledge, essential to overcome difficult times such as those experienced in recent years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Likewise, Science Week in Andalusia is an essential showcase to make visible a fundamental work that sometimes remains hidden, a safe and inestimable value that is a guarantee of future and development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The initiative, promoted in Andalusia by the Regional Ministry of University, Research and Innovation, is coordinated by the Descubre Foundation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
