Managing en‑route air traffic is increasingly complex due to rapidly changing conditions such as traffic density, weather, and route variability. Traditional flow management measures struggle to adapt quickly, often leading to overloaded sectors and inefficient regulations.
ANTICIPATE introduces a more dynamic, capacity‑on‑demand approach to airspace management. By enabling workload balancing between adjacent air traffic control sectors, the project helps redistribute traffic where capacity is available. Aligned with the Digital European Sky vision, ANTICIPATE explores how spare capacity can be transformed into virtual sector capacity, improving controller workload balance, reducing delays, and supporting the safe and efficient growth of European air traffic.
