Digital Archivist, University of Alberta, Canada

Maryna Chernyavska is the Digital Archivist at the University of Alberta Archives, where her primary responsibility is managing the university’s digital records. She holds a Master of Arts in Folklore and a Master of Library and Information Studies, both from the University of Alberta, and is currently pursuing an interdisciplinary PhD focused on unconventional archival practices. Her research interests include digital preservation, research archives, tradition archives, community archives, traditional knowledge and memory, as well as diaspora cultures and identities. She served on the ICA-SUV Bureau from 2016 to 2024 and is currently co-chair of the Archives Working Group of the International Society for Ethnology and Folklore.
