Hosting of PhD candidate (Oslo Metropolitan University)

Feb-Mar 2026: Steinar Mathisen is a teacher educator at the Department of Primary and Secondary Teacher Education (GFU) at the Faculty of Education and International Studies, Oslo Metropolitan University. He is currently completing his PhD in digital technology in education. Steinar’s visit is hosted by Dr. Melinda Dooly. They will be working together on research approaches to complex digital environments and analyzing data from his PhD study.

Preparation ICOTILE conference

Feb 2026: LIVRE will co-sponsor the First International Conference on Technology-Infused Language Education (ICOTILE), a fully online event supporting dissemination, global collaboration, researcher–teacher dialogue, and knowledge-sharing on technology-infused language education practices and innovation across diverse educational contexts and infrastructures worldwide online. Preparations are underway.

Seminar

Jan 2026: Guest lecturer at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. The session presents collected multimodal classroom interaction data to MA educational research students, guiding them to practice analytic observation. Students interpreted language, gesture, and media use, then shared perspectives, compared interpretations, and refined their analytical reasoning collaboratively in discussion together.

Focus group: Inservice teachers

Jan 2026: An inservice teacher focus group, grounded in Q-methodology, examined comparative perspectives and viewpoints on the use of VR and AI in language teaching and learning, capturing shared priorities, tensions, and contrasting belief patterns across participants.

School Visit (new field site)

Jan 2026: 1st visit to new potential field site (rural school) to meet with administrators and teachers and to observe classroom practices in context. Exploration of the VR platform and initial discussion of possible interventions were debated.
