Because the standard English plural &#8211;<em>s<\/em> is becoming increasingly widespread, in those cases where you can choose between two alternative plural forms this guide recommends the &#8211;<em>s<\/em> form (for example, prefer <em>syllabuses<\/em> to <em>syllabi<\/em>).
