The expressions half of<\/em> and none <\/em>(of<\/em>) may take either a singular or a plural verb when the noun they modify is countable. Otherwise, the verb must be singular.<\/p>\n

When a number <\/em>(of<\/em>) means several, it takes a plural verb.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the number (of)<\/em> takes a singular verb.<\/p>\n
