{"id":1055,"date":"2019-09-19T08:04:46","date_gmt":"2019-09-19T15:04:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.quintanalab.org\/?p=1055"},"modified":"2019-09-19T08:04:46","modified_gmt":"2019-09-19T15:04:46","slug":"we-received-a-caixaimpulse-grant","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/webs.uab.cat\/mitochondrial-neuropatology\/2019\/09\/19\/we-received-a-caixaimpulse-grant\/","title":{"rendered":"We received a CaixaImpulse grant"},"content":{"rendered":"<p id=\"tw-target-text\" class=\"tw-data-text tw-text-large tw-ta\" dir=\"ltr\" data-placeholder=\"Traducci\u00f3n\"><span lang=\"en\">We are very glad to announce that our MitoCBD project has been selected for a CaixaImpulse grant.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"tw-data-text tw-text-large tw-ta\" dir=\"ltr\" data-placeholder=\"Traducci\u00f3n\"><span lang=\"en\">MitoCBD consists in investigating the use of Cannabidiol (CBD), a substance obtained from the cannabis plant, for the treatment of mitochondrial disease. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"tw-data-text tw-text-large tw-ta\" dir=\"ltr\" data-placeholder=\"Traducci\u00f3n\"><span lang=\"en\">It has been proved that CBD has anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective properties, and it was also found to restore deficits and prolong life expectancy in a mitochondrial disease model. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"tw-data-text tw-text-large tw-ta\" dir=\"ltr\" data-placeholder=\"Traducci\u00f3n\"><span lang=\"en\">The aim of this project is to test the effectiveness of the CBD in other preclinical models of mitochondrial disease, with the final objective of finding a treatment for these devastating rare diseases. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"tw-data-text tw-text-large tw-ta\" dir=\"ltr\" data-placeholder=\"Traducci\u00f3n\"><span lang=\"en\">There has only been 21 projects selected from all around the UE, so we are veeeery happy that MitoCBD is one of them!<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"tw-data-text tw-text-large tw-ta\" dir=\"ltr\" data-placeholder=\"Traducci\u00f3n\"><span lang=\"en\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We are very glad to announce that our MitoCBD project has been selected for a CaixaImpulse grant.
