He studied the first cycle of the chemistry career at the then called University College of Girona, attached to the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) where he completed his degree in 1982. In 1986 he received his doctorate from the same university with the thesis entitled \u201ctheoretical study of the reactions of carbenes\u201d. In the years 1987-1988 he made a postdoctoral stay at the University of Califorrnia Berkeley under the direction of Professor Bill Miller working on the study of the nuclear tunnel effect using semiclassical methods. In 1990 he obtained a tenured professorship at the UAB and since 2009 he has been a full university professor at the UAB. Throughout these years he has co-directed 11 doctoral theses and has published 136 research papers in international journals and a reference book on Quantum chemistry. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-right\">The research topics in which he is currently interested are in the field of photochemistry: theoretical studies of photoswitch design and its application in the field of photopharmacology. He is also interested in the theoretical study of nonlinear processes of multiphotonic absorption as a tool to achieve photoexcitations with longer wavelength radiations.
