Existen dos isoformas principales, COX-1 y COX-2, con distintos roles y patrones de expresi\u00f3n en los tejidos. La COX-1 se expresa ampliamente y mantiene la homeostasis, mientras que la COX-2 est\u00e1 restringida a regiones espec\u00edficas y es inducible, especialmente en tejidos inflamados y c\u00e9lulas cancerosas.isoforms La sobreexpresi\u00f3n de COX-2 se asocia con el desarrollo de c\u00e1ncer en varios tipos de tumores. Las diferencias entre los espectros monom\u00e9ricos y dim\u00e9ricos revelan conocimientos moleculares del comportamiento de la prote\u00edna en las c\u00e9lulas con COX-2 sobreexpresada.
