The Mutagenesis Group<\/strong> at the Autonomous University of Barcelona is a European leader in the study of the effects of environmental contaminants<\/strong> on human health<\/strong>, with a particular focus on micro- and nanoplastics.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Our research combines advanced molecular toxicology<\/strong>, innovative experimental models<\/strong>, and studies in human populations<\/strong> to understand how environmental exposure<\/strong> translates into biological damage<\/strong> and disease<\/strong> development. This multidisciplinary approach enables us to generate high-value mechanistic knowledge<\/strong> while also providing evidence applicable<\/strong> to prevention<\/strong> and public health<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With a strong translational<\/strong> vocation, the group actively participates in large-scale European projects<\/strong> and collaborates with international organizations such as the OECD<\/strong> and the EFSA<\/strong>, contributing to the development of evidence-based standards and risk assessment<\/strong> strategies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, we promote the transfer of knowledge<\/strong> to society through collaborations with clinical institutions<\/strong> and the industrial sector<\/strong>, and we develop innovative solutions<\/strong>, including biomarker-based diagnostic tools and specialized toxicology services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our goal is to contribute to better health protection<\/strong> and to promote the transition<\/strong> toward safer materials and environments<\/strong>, connecting excellence in research with a real impact<\/strong> on society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
