Alba Hern\u00e1ndez \u00e9s professora agregada de la Universitat Aut\u00f2noma de Barcelona (UAB) i desenvolupa la seva recerca dins del Grup de Mutag\u00e8nesi. Els seus interessos principals actuals se centren en l&#8217;estudi del potencial cancerigen dels nanomaterials (NM). En els darrers anys s&#8217;estan introduint milers de productes amb NM, tant en la ind\u00fastria com en els productes de consum diari, malgrat la incertesa sobre els efectes que aquests compostos poden tenir sobre els treballadors exposats i els consumidors. Cal fer front a aquest nou escenari d&#8217;exposici\u00f3 generant dades valuoses per a l&#8217;avaluaci\u00f3 del risc i amb prop\u00f2sits reguladors. Per fer-ho, \u00e9s necessari un canvi en els dissenys de toxicologia experimental convencional i en la metodologia disponible. En aquest context, els objectius a mitj\u00e0 i llarg termini de la recerca de la Dra. Hern\u00e1ndez s\u00f3n incrementar els nostres coneixement sobre els riscos cancer\u00edgens relacionats amb l&#8217;exposici\u00f3 a les NM, aix\u00ed com millorar la metodologia in vitro per avaluar-los. Nom\u00e9s d&#8217;aquesta manera es podr\u00e0 fer una comercialitzaci\u00f3 a gran escala dels productes de la nanotecnologia sense comprometre la salut humana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A m\u00e9s, la Dra.
