The Biological Living Standards and Inequality Indicators Research Group (NIDES) (GRC 2021-SGR-00141) of the Economic History Unit of the Department of Economics and Economic History was created in 2005 with the aim of analysing the history of different aspects of economic development and its relationship with the living standards of the population and the sustainability of economic systems. The group currently researches the history of agriculture and food, the use of energy and materials by societies, demography and the labour market, as well as industrial history. The members of the group participate in different national and international research projects, as well as in the training of new researchers in different postgraduate programs.
