The Ibero-American Observatory of Communication (OIC) is a research center. It gathers various academic networks, working groups and collaborative efforts between universities in the Iberian Peninsula (Spain and Portugal) and in Latin America. It focuses in research, teaching, knowledge transfer and publications in the fields of communication, culture and human development. The OIC belongs to the Department of Journalism and Communication Studies at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona.
Its main fields of action are: Information and Communications Technology (ICT), media and communication policies, audiovisual and media consumption.
