I am interested in the social and political role of translation in the construction of gender and cultural/national intersectional identities in a transnational world.

As a Translation Studies scholar, I have produced research that has advanced the field by contributing new perspectives on transnational feminism, stateless cultures and non-hegemonic literatures, as well as power asymmetries in multilingual contexts. My work is organised around two main research strands. The first explores feminist translation studies from a transnational and intersectional perspective, focusing on the power relations between the Global North and the Global South as they shape the experiences of translators (both historically and in our neoliberal societies and publishing industries today), translated women and queer writers, and feminist and queer linguistics in translation. The second examines literary translation in multilingual and stateless-nation contexts, addressing the sociolinguistic dimensions of translation and self-translation in the Iberian Peninsula, the analysis of transnational travels of texts, the institutional and publishing policies governing literary translation, and the role of translation as a tool of cultural diplomacy and soft power.

I also have publications in the fields of Gender and Media Studies, Feminist Linguistics and Galician Studies.

My international profile is evidenced by a strong track record for successful grant application outcomes (including Spanish Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, British Academy/Leverhulme, UK Arts and Humanities Research Council), competitive research fellowships, influential publications with prestigious publishers and in leading indexed journals (some of them translated into Portuguese, Italian, Korean and Latvian, showing the lasting impact of my research), frequent keynote addresses at conferences and summer schools worldwide (Europe, Asia, Africa, North and South America), sustained collaborations with prominent global scholars (mainly in Argentina, Brazil, Ireland, UK and the US) and a proven history of PhD completions and supervisions.

In 2023, at Warwick, I founded the Warwick School of Feminist Translation, an international doctoral and early career researcher workshop bringing together 20 participants from around the world and five leading scholars in Feminist Translation Studies. It offered a collaborative forum for discussing emerging research and exchanging theoretical and methodological perspectives.
