Epigenetic regulation of light signalling
The role of Polycomb activity on plant development is known since long, but its participation in the regulation of genes in response to environmental changes is scarcely described. Our main research interest is to address the role of chromatin in response to environmental changes. Particularly, on the crosstalk among the transcription factors (TFs) that regulate light-responsive genes and epigenetic mechanisms. We explore the role of Polycomb activity and LIKE HETEROCHROMATIN PROTEIN 1 (LHP1) in how plant shade modulates gene expression. With a multidisciplinary approach (that includes an epigenetic mutant screening, nuclei structure analysis, expression and genetic analysis, histone and TF ChIP, protein-protein interaction assays and photobiology analyses) we have found that LHP1 participates at several steps and moments on the shade signaling pathway.
