On January 9th and 10th, 2025, Seville hosted the inaugural MITONED International Workshop at the Salón de Actos del Instituto de Biomedicina de Sevilla (IBiS). This event brought together leading researchers in the field of mitochondrial diseases, united by the MITONED network.

The workshop featured keynote presentations from renowned international scientists. Among them, Elisenda delivered a compelling presentation on the role of Kiss1 neurons in male reproductive health, and Irene introduced a novel concept of lactylation as a post-translational modification in a mouse model of Leigh Syndrome.

The conference not only fostered collaboration among experts but also highlighted cutting-edge research efforts aimed at understanding and potentially curing mitochondrial diseases. And it was also a fantastic opportunity to connect, share experiences, and enjoy some well-deserved fun together.

Congratulations to all the participants and organizers for making the inaugural MITONED Workshop an outstanding success!
