We are delighted to announce the publication of Antiquarian Literature in the Sixteenth Century<\/em>. Archaeology and Epigraphy in Printed Books and Manuscripts<\/em> (De Gruyter 2024)<\/strong>, edited by Joan Carbonell Manils and Gerard Gonzalez Germain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This book explores how antiquarian literature (collections of inscriptions, treatises, letters\u2026) developed throughout the sixteenth century, both in manuscript and in print; how both media interacted with each other, and how these printed antiquarian works were received, as attested by the manuscript annotations left by their early modern owners and readers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The book includes chapters by several members of our previous project (\u00abEuropean epigraphic-antiquarian literature in the first half of the 16th century. Printed books and manuscripts), which concluded in 2023: Marco Buonocore, Lorenzo Calvelli, Sandra Cano Aguilera, Joan Carbonell, Xavier Espluga, Gerard Gonz\u00e1lez Germain, Laura Lalli, William Stenhouse, and Ginette Vagenheim<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
