My Experience at IEEE RFID-TA 2025 in Valence

A meaningful return to a city and a community I care about

This year I had the chance to attend the IEEE RFID-TA 2025 conference in Valence, France, and the experience turned out to be far more special than I had anticipated. Beyond the scientific program, returning to Valence brought back many memories from my postdoc years, and it was truly wonderful to reconnect with former colleagues and friends who were part of that chapter of my life.

A Warm Return

Coming back to Valence felt unexpectedly natural, almost like slipping back into a familiar rhythm. Walking through the city, revisiting old corners, and seeing familiar faces again made me feel completely at ease. There was a comforting sense of continuity in realizing how much had changed, yet how much remained exactly as I remembered.

Reconnecting With Former Colleagues

One of the most rewarding parts of the trip was meeting my old colleagues from my postdoctoral time. Sharing updates, laughing about past stories, and catching up on each other’s paths reminded me how influential that period had been for my growth as a researcher. It was a reunion filled with genuine warmth and appreciation.

A Conference Full of Innovation

Of course, the scientific program did not disappoint. My colleagues presented exciting advances, innovative methods, and fresh perspectives on RFID technologies. As always, the level of research showcased throughout the event demonstrated the remarkable progress being made in the field.

A Community That Feels Like Home

But if there is something I take with me above all else, it is the reaffirmed feeling of belonging to a truly exceptional community. The RFID Europe community is not only professionally outstanding but also incredibly human. The dedication, kindness, and sense of purpose that everyone brings to the table is something I deeply admire. These are people committed not just to technological progress, but to improving the world we live in.

Looking Ahead

I left Valence with renewed motivation, new ideas, and the comforting sense that I am part of a network of brilliant and generous individuals. I look forward to future collaborations—and to many more opportunities to reunite with this inspiring community.

Here’s the video of my presentation at the conference. While the quality is not good, I hope it can be usefull to somebody.
