La radiaci\u00f3 \u00e9s dispersada per cada mineral en una determinada direcci\u00f3, i d\u2019aquesta manera, permet identificar el material a trav\u00e9s de difractogrames. La mostra l\u2019an\u00e0lisi es pot obtenir mitjan\u00e7ant la seva polvoritzaci\u00f3 (agregats orientats) per\u00f2 aquest proc\u00e9s no \u00e9s una condici\u00f3 necess\u00e0ria. La aplicabilitat i avantatges d\u2019aquesta t\u00e8cnica es poden resumir en el aspectes seg\u00fcents:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Determinaci\u00f3 de la composici\u00f3 mineral dels materials<\/li><li>Definici\u00f3 de la proced\u00e8ncia de les mat\u00e8ries primeres<\/li><li>Diferenciaci\u00f3 entre materials amorfs i cristal\u00b7lins.<\/li><li>Determinaci\u00f3 de les fases dels diversos minerals cristal\u00b7lins. Aquesta t\u00e8cnica resulta especialment apropiada per a recon\u00e8ixer les fases de minerals determinats com, per exemple, l\u2019argila, que per la seva granulometria fina, dif\u00edcilment podem recon\u00e8ixer sota el microscopi.
