The EURASIP Satellite Network of Experts School is designed for early-stage researchers and industry professionals, including PhD students and postdoctoral researchers, who are interested in exploring the latest advancements in satellite and space communications. It combines lectures from leading academics and industry experts.
Taking place from September 22nd to 23rd, 2025, at the UAB UNESCO campus facilities, in the centre of Barcelona (Casa Convalescència) , the SatNEx School is co-located with the AIAA International Conference of Satellite Systems Communications (ICSSC 2025), which takes place from 23rd to 25th .
Day 1 of the School 2025 features a remarkable lineup of visionary leaders shaping the future of space. Kicking off the day is Holly Ridings, NASA’s former Chief Flight Director and now Director of Exploration Operations, offering inspiring insights from the heart of human spaceflight. She is followed by Dr. Oana-Alexandra Graur of ESA, whose whose work in space security standardization supports the development of interoperable and federated missions across agencies and platforms. and platforms. Prof. Gunes Karabulut-Kurt (Polytechnique Montréal) then explores the dual challenge of wireless communications and power transfer on the lunar surface—bridging strategic vision with cutting-edge technical insight.communications and power transfer on the lunar surface. The afternoon shifts further into deep technical innovation: Prof. Zhu Han (University of Houston), a globally recognized authority in next-generation wireless systems, introduces the emerging paradigm of generative semantic communication; and Prof. Eva Lagunas (University of Luxembourg) concludes the day with a forward-looking lecture on non-terrestrial networks in the 6G era.
The second day is a joint session with the collocated Colloquium of the ICSSC 2025. SatNEx School participants will join leading experts from space industry and academy. Check our confirmed Keynote Speakers and our series of panels on standardization, security&safety, quantum and space, and AI, reflecting the broader technological and strategic context in which trusted and intelligent space systems are evolving.
