There are two ways to search the database (basic or avanced) and the results could be shown in different display formats<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Basic search (free form)<\/mark><\/mark><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The free or simple search, google type, is the fastest and more comprehensive search. This option searches for words in all the fields of the database<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Title<\/strong><\/td>Abstracts<\/strong><\/td><\/tr>
Key Words<\/strong> (subjects, personal and corporate names)<\/td>Geograhical subject<\/strong><\/td><\/tr>
Authors <\/strong>(names or surnames of personal authors and words from corporate authors)<\/td>Publication date<\/strong><\/td><\/tr>
Words from the series title<\/strong><\/td>Words from the Journal title<\/strong><\/td><\/tr>
Document type <\/strong>(books, journal articles)<\/td>Format<\/strong> (computer file, video…)<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

By default the program uses the option All the words (AND<\/strong>) to link the search terms<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you want to search for Any word (OR<\/strong>) you have to select it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Guerra civil espanyola Terrassa<\/em><\/strong><\/td>Retrieves references about the Spanish civil war in the city of Terrassa<\/td><\/tr>
Franquisme articles 2015<\/em><\/strong><\/td>Retrieves journal articles about Francoism published in 2015<\/td><\/tr>
Vicens Vives monografies<\/em><\/strong><\/td>Retrieves books from or about the Catalan historian Jaume Vicencs Vives<\/td><\/tr>

Search tips<\/mark><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

– Do not use special characters: \u2018  \/  (  )  –   _<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

You should not use special characters such as hyphens, apostrophes, etc..<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can <\/strong>use the Catalan \u201cela geminada\u201d (l\u00b7l)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

–<\/strong> Avoid the use of prepositions, conjunctions and contractions (de, del, a, amb, i \u2026)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

– Use truncation symbol <\/strong>($)<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

You could use the truncation symbol ($) to search words with the same root:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For example: Industr$<\/strong> searchs:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

industr<\/u>ials, indust<\/u>rialitzaci\u00f3, ind\u00fast<\/u>ries, <\/strong>any type of industry <\/strong>(ind\u00fastria t\u00e8xtil, ind\u00fastria cotonera, ind\u00fastria mec\u00e0nica, etc..)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To specify the fields of the search you should use the ADVANCED FORM<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

The advanced search allows more specificity in the results<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
