The Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) has officially welcomed the first cohort of PhD students under the TOUCh (Towards the next generation of excellent young doctoral researchers on mental health by developing an intersectoral & transdisciplinary approach) program, a European initiative focused on mental health and well-being.
This first call has brought in 13 PhD students, selected from over 30 research proposals across four key areas: promoting mental health and well-being throughout life, transdisciplinary approaches to mental health determinants, multilevel strategies for mental health assessment and intervention (from genomics to personomics), and governance in mental health systems (participation, education, and community).
The new PhD cohort represents a diverse range of nationalities, with students coming from countries including Argentina, Chile, Spain, Italy, France, Germany, the Netherlands, and India. This international composition fosters a global perspective in mental health research and encourages cross-cultural collaboration within the program.
The selected PhD candidates will benefit from a three-year contract with a gross monthly salary of €2,375, and they will conduct their research in a multidisciplinary and multicultural environment with access to cutting-edge facilities. Additionally, they will participate in a comprehensive training program that includes workshops, hands-on schools, and retreats focused on both scientific and transversal skills essential for research and professional development.
